Virginia's Cannabis Compliance Information

Cannabis is illegal for recreational use until 2024; however, medical marijuana is legal for patients with certain conditions, such as cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, and any chronic or debilitating disease that results in severe symptoms.

The Virginia Board of Pharmacy is responsible for regulating medical marijuana, and patients must be registered with the board in order to access medical marijuana. Dispensaries are allowed to sell medical marijuana products, but they must be licensed by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy.

Virginia's Licensing Information

Medical cannabis is legal in Vermont and recreational cannabis is still illegal until 2021 so there are several conditions to consider. 

  • Medical cannabis is legal in Virginia, with patients needing to register with the state to access it.
  • Cannabis cultivation is illegal in Virginia, with the exception of medical cannabis cultivation.
    Cannabis-infused products are legal in Virginia, but only for medical cannabis patients.
